Asynchronous or Synchronous E-Learning?

The current issue of EDUCAUSE Quarterly has a great article that describes the differences, advantages and disadvantages of both asynchronous and synchronous teaching methodologies.  I have taught online classes in both formats, and in general, I agree with their observations – the best methodology is determined by the the goals of the university and by the target audience of the courses.  There is no “one size fits all” approach to teaching, whether it is face-to-face or online.

After you have completed a couple of the surveys on the right side of this page, why don’t you post some comments about your experiences with online education?  Thanks!
