#DailyNumbers – A New Journey!

Time to veer off the predictable path.  If you follow me on social media, you know that I have done two sets of #DailyDevotionals this year, and both have been about the life of Jesus.  Lots of people talk and write about the life of Jesus.  But there is more to the Bible and Christianity than Jesus (am I allowed to say that?!).

Inspired by an unnamed drummer at our church, I am going to start a journey through the often overlooked Old Testament book of Numbers.  As I skimmed through the book again recently, I was struck by how clearly it speaks into modern issues such as leadership, mission, and identity.

As we journey through #DailyNumbers together, I think we will see a picture of God’s heart, faithfulness and holiness, and a picture of human hearts, propensity to wander, and our need for good and godly leadership.  I am looking forward to our time together!

PS.  A very important note before we start … Any exploration of the book of Numbers requires both a general awareness of the Ancient Near Eastern socio-religious context from which it arises, and a specific awareness of the Torah and Mosaic Covenant.  I’ll touch on these two briefly throughout the series, but just remember that there is more to the context than what I will specifically talk about.  🙂
