Recovering Relationships in Online Education

Online education is a field full of ingenuity and potential, but it includes a few inherent challenges as well.  One of the potential weakness of teaching (and learning) through an online environment is the difficulty in creating teacher-student relationships in the absence of face-to-face interaction.

Part of the solution is the use of video technology in individual classes.  Earlier this year, I presented this case study at the Hawaii International Conference on Education, and it resulted in some great conversation and dialogue throughout my talk (and afterward as well!).  If you are interested in the use of video as a means to recover the “relational” aspect of online teaching, have a look at the presentation, and post some comments.
